This month we focus our attention to work-based learning (WBL) strategies and the myriad of approaches that it can take. The "premiere" version of WBL is apprenticeships that include a rigorous program of academic instruction and paid work experience. But WBL can also include internships, on-the-job training and mentorships.

There is no one size fits all, and it all depends on the interests and abilities of the individual as well as the needs and commitment of the employer, coupled with the access to good educational resources.
