May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and the first week of May is
dedicated to children’s mental health awareness.
Mental health is an integral part of adolescents’ well-being, and most young people experience positive mental health. Nevertheless, nearly one third of high school students have experienced depression symptoms, and about 20 percent of all 13- to 18-year-olds have had or are currently experiencing a seriously debilitating mental health disorder. Everyone has an important role to play in supporting adolescents, reducing stigma, and enhancing positive mental health. Here are some tips and resources to get started.
