Description
Grounded in the facts of what happened last year and what we already know about SYEP, presenters will recommend directions for policymakers, systems leaders and funders. With youth unemployment at brutal levels, schools in a second year of disruption, and racial inequities growing sharper, now is the time for intentional investments in summer jobs programs alongside career pathways and other education and training opportunities.
The Aspen Institute Forum for Community Solutions, Center for Law and Social Policy (CLASP), National League of Cities (NLC), and National Youth Employment Coalition (NYEC) invite you to a three-part learning series on summer youth employment programs (SYEP). The resilience demonstrated by many communities to adapt to the triple pandemic of COVID-19, the economic crisis, and historical racial injustice offers lessons on how to advance equitable career opportunities for young people this coming summer and year-round.
