Join the Annie E. Casey Foundation and Child Trends for a webinar to explore ways that positive youth development approaches can be incorporated in training, education and employment programs to help young people navigate through their work and personal lives.

Description

Growing evidence suggests that positive youth development (PYD), a framework for cultivating assets and competencies, can help prepare young people for success in adulthood, including in the workplace. The framework focuses on creating a supportive, safe learning environment that emphasizes skill development and linkages to school, family, work and community.

Child Trends will offer recommendations from a new assessment tool it created to help organizations apply PYD strategies in workforce development settings. In it are lessons gleaned from the Casey Foundation’s Generation Work initiative, a multicity effort to connect young people with the knowledge and experience they need to succeed in the job market. Representatives from Cleveland, one of the Generation Work sites, will share their experiences using the framework to equip young people from low-income communities with the skills and credentials necessary to develop careers in high-growth industries.
