    The Department of Housing and Urban Development  has announced it will select up to 10 communities to participate in the Youth Homelessness Demonstration Program (YHDP) to develop and execute a coordinated community approach to preventing and ending youth homelessness.  Four of the 10 selected communities will be rural communities.

    The Department of Housing and Urban Development released a Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) for the Youth Homelessness Demonstration Program (YHDP). Under the program, up to ten communities (at least four rural) will be awarded a total of $33 million to design and implement a coordinated community response to ending youth homelessness. The deadline for submission is November 30, 2016.

    Summer jobs develop professional and life skills that youth need for successful futures.  SFSP's healthy, free meals for youth (18 years old and younger) in low-income communities gives them a source of nutrition that they may lose during the summertime without free or reduced-price school meals.  SFSP's free meals also allow them to save a little money while they're working a summer job.

    The Center for Native American Youth (CNAY), a policy program at the Aspen Institute, is now accepting nominations and applications for its Champions for Change leadership development program. Champions for Change, inspired by a White House initiative, is an annual youth recognition program that shines a spotlight on positive stories in Indian Country, promotes hope among Native American youth, and develops young tribal, state, and national leaders.
